The Bridge Program draws inspiration from the Society of Mary's (Marist Fathers) option for the young and the poor, alienated and marginalised in society...
Begun in 2011, BP has had a particular focus on 'bridging the gap' between Thai-Burma border post-10 refugee camp education and potential selection for online studies with participating universities internationally -- or for other further tertiary studies.
Since exercises are conducted online, then access to computer and Internet are essential.
BP focuses on developing skills in these principal areas:
- Clear communication
- Critical thinking
- Personal self-management
BP is NOT an English language course. However English is used throughout all assignments and communication.
Eligibility for the Bridge Program
Potential participants need to demonstrate
- basic competence in simple English
- preparedness to carefully read and follow simple written directives
- reliable and competent access to the Internet, including Skype video communication
- appropriate motivation for further self-development
